Plumbing Student Nate Leary Takes 2nd at Apprenticeship Contest
March 2015 –Augusta, Maine – Biddeford’s Regional Center of Technology (BRCOT) student Nate Leary (second in from the left) from BRCOT’s new plumbing program won second place in the Maine Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association’s (PHCC) 123rd Annual EXPO Plumbing Apprenticeship Contest.
Contestants walked away with over $600.00 worth of tools and gift cards during PHCC’s annual convention and tradeshow, held last week at the Augusta Civic Center. Also in the photo above are competition judges Dana Tuttle, the Senior State Plumbing Inspector and John Tyler from Augusta Fuel along with students representing SMCC and Lewiston High School.
The BRCOT Plumbing Program entered two students into the contest, the second contestant, Jackson Oloya (4th in from the left), came in fourth place and at the age 16, was the youngest student to compete in the history of the competition. “I am very proud of both of the students,” said BRCOT plumbing instructor Brad Harding, “They worked hard to prepare for the contest and the competition was intense.”
