Congratulations Max Mourmouras
Congratulations to Max (Ilias) Mourmouras, recipient of the Elie Family Scholarship for engineering. Two $5,000 scholarships are given each year by former COT students Denis and Amy Elie to 1 student pursuing a career in nursing and 1 pursuing engineering. These are the COT programs that Denis and Amy completed and pursued as professionals. Max will attend Maine Maritime Academy in the fall. His mom Leslie shared these thoughts about the COT and his path moving forward: “Max is enrolled in the Marine Engineering Technology (MET) major and will be pursuing the Regimental Program. He plans on playing Lacrosse for them in the spring season too. He received his lifetime lobster license this year after a 3 year apprenticeship and captains his own boat, Chix Magnet. After reflecting last night, this program, and COT, gave him direction, a passion and future opportunities, and it was pretty much an accident. You know this story I think, but as a sophomore he was not interested in COT for his junior schedule at all. When he didn’t like his schedule, the best option was one block of your class and the rest is history! You can share this with anyone because I think it is a great lesson. I know the perception of COT has changed in the eyes of the Biddeford community but some of the other sending school’s students may be a little behind.”
